This is a medium, double sided Kikoy fleece blanket. It is made using original Swahili Kikoy on the outside and a soft fleece on the inner side. The outer kikoy is mostly white with blue and red stripes along the borders while the inner fleece is navy blue. The blanket has frills along the width.

Kikoy is a traditionally handmade, multicolored fabric made from pure cotton. Commonly worn in East Africa, it is popular for its bright colors and durability. As a blanket, the Kikoy adds a Boho chiq look and feel in the bedroom.

This Kikoy fleece blanket measures 38 inches wide by 63 inches long which is the ideal size for a baby crib or as a couch blanket.

Meet the Lady who Made this Product

Catherine Lokorio

Catherine was born and raised in Morpus. She reached class 7 and had to drop out when she got pregnatnt. Her parents refused her from getting married to the father of her child due to tribal issues. She was forced to stay at home and help her parents in herding goats and home chores. In 2018, she learnt of Jitokeze and saw it as a good opportunity to advance herself. She enrolled into our program and in December 2019, she cleared her training. Although her parents helped in paying her school fees, she had fee arrears by the time she completed her training. She therefore decided to come back to Jitokeze to produce items at a commission to offset the balance. Currently, she has finished offsetting her fee balance and is working on raising enough commission to buy a sewing machine to start her sewing business back in her village.
